Okay, legit question, if you’re reading a book series, how do you read it? Do you like to read a series back-to-back (which means it has to be complete)? Or, do you read them spread out over time, either when they’re released or at your own speed?
I don’t like to read them back-to-back, even if the whole series is already finished. I like to spread them out by a lot. I find that when I read more than two or three books by the same author near each other, I find their writing slightly formulaic or more predictable. I also am currently reading a ton of series. I read some books five or more years apart. I have a pretty good memory, and I’m always surprised how much I remember from earlier books (maybe that will change in time).
I’m also curious, do you like books that are part of series? Or do you prefer stand-alones? And, if you do read a series, is there a point when you think, “This is too much,” and stop reading that series? Or have you ever looked at a series and known that it wasn’t for you just because it was long? (Not naming books… Wheel of Time).
I don’t usually let long series stop me, but looking back, I’m not sure that anything I’ve read to date would be considered that long. The longest completed series I’ve read is 13 books. Is that too many?
Just wondering…
Happy reading and writing today and every day!
