In addition to my monthly short stories, this year, I’m going to post some mini book reviews about what I’m reading. This year, I’ve already read 5 books! Here’s what I’ve read so far in 2026:
1. White Night
Author: Jim Butcher
Genre: Fantasy
Thoughts: This is like the 9th book in the Dresden Files series. I love these books. I find I know what to expect and sometimes I like that. Every book is a mystery and Dresden always saves the day in a fairly dramatic and unlikely manner. If you like detective stories with a magic twist, you’ll like these.

2. The Thursday Murder Club
Author: Richard Osman
Genre: Cozy Murder
Thoughts: I really loved this. The book is a murder mystery, but it’s also a really fun read because the characters are so fun. A group of retirees solve old cases as part of a club. They end up in the middle of a current case. Highly recommend.

3. We’ll Prescribe You a Cat
Author: Syou Ishida
Genre: Cozy
Thoughts: This book is absolutely adorable. People with life problems, who think they are going to see a therapist, end up getting prescribed a cat. The cats end up helping these people work out their lives. It’s a wonderful book about life and the healing powers of animals.

4. Myth-Nomers and Im-Pervections
Author: Robert Asprin
Genre: Fantasy Humor
Thoughts: This is the 8th book in the Myth Adventures series. This one was silly and irreverent, just like the rest. This adventure takes place on the pervects planet.

5. A Fine and Private Place
Author: Peter S. Beagle
Genre: Fantasy
Thoughts: This story is heart breaking and lovely. A man has lived in a graveyard for 20 years. He can talk to ghosts and has a raven friend. Somehow, he finds a way back to life. Read this. You won’t be disappointed.

Whatever you’re working on this year, hope it’s going well!
Happy reading and writing today and every day!
