April book reviews

I’ve been busy reading again… here are some very short reviews on the books I read this month.

Stack of books I read this month!
  1. Gone Girl by Gilian Flynn
    • This book was so good! It was on my to read list for a long time. It was unpredictable and crazy. I don’t want to give too much away, but you won’t be able to put it down. Not only is it a mystery, but there are so many unexpected moments because the girl is bananas!
  2. Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix
    • I picked this one up because I have yet to read anything by Hendrix and not love it. This was also really great. It’s about pregnant teen girls all living in a home together and they encounter witchcraft. Really fun and kind of campy.
  3. The Magician King by Lev Grossman
    • This is book two in the series. I think it’s been a decade since I read the first one, but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying this one. If you liked the first one, you’ll want to keep reading. These books are not 100% like the show. I think the books are better (of course).
  4. Hellsing Deluxe Volume 1 by Kohta Hirano
    • I read this whole series more than a decade ago but decided to buy the deluxe books for my home library, so I’m reading them again. I love this series! Probably my favorite manga. Highly recommend.
  5. Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
    • This book is amazing! I laughed, I got angry, and I kept reading through all the emotions. If you want a great story about being yourself and standing up for your principles, this is the one. I loved the main character. She is a bad ass woman in a time when women were not allowed to be smart or strong. She rocks! Read it.

Hope you are having a great month!

Happy reading and writing today and every day!
